Am I eating genetically engineered flax?

No. A variety of GE herbicide-resistant flax, developed by researchers at the University of Saskatchewan, was approved by regulatory agencies in the US in 1998 (earlier in Canada). Citing concerns about the acceptability of GE flax to critical export markets in Europe (50% of the Canadian flax market), the harvest from the only production fields of GE flax was voluntarily destroyed at the request of the Flax Council of Canada, and it was used domestically for non-food uses. It has not been planted since.
